The Fruitvale History Project has conducted 56 oral history interviews to date with activists who were involved in organizations that addressed many of the critical needs of the Fruitvale community such as healthcare, legal assistance, education, housing, the arts, community affairs, political organizing, and more.
These oral/video histories paint a deep picture of the activism in the Fruitvale during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, an activism that became an example for communities throughout the U.S.
